TERMS & CONDITIONS
Last Updated: February 2026
The Plot Twist Lab is a creative initiative owned and operated by The Yellowe Ocean Communication Private Limited ('The Company'). By submitting your application and completing your payment, you agree to the following terms and conditions governing your relationship with The Company.
1. PAYMENTS & SECURING YOUR SPOT
-
Application-Based Entry: Submission of an application does not guarantee a spot. Spots are confirmed only upon our acceptance of your application and receipt of full payment (processed via The Yellowe Ocean Communication Pvt. Ltd.).
-
Payment Window: Selected applicants will receive a payment link. Payment must be made within 48 hours to lock the spot. After this window, the spot may be released to the next applicant on the waitlist.
-
Inclusions:
-
Retreat Only: Covers tuition, stay, and meals for 5 days. Travel to the retreat destination is excluded.
-
The Residency: Covers the 5-Day Retreat (as above) + 3 months of remote mentorship (6 bi-weekly calls + page reviews).
-
2. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
Because our cohorts are limited to just 8 writers, your spot is reserved specifically for you, preventing others from joining. Our refund policy reflects this commitment.
A. For The Retreat (Standalone)
-
60+ Days before Start Date: 100% Refund (minus a ₹2,000 administrative processing fee).
-
30–59 Days before Start Date: 50% Refund.
-
Less than 30 Days before Start Date: No Refund. (At this stage, vendor deposits for your room and meals have already been paid).
-
Transferability: If you cannot attend, you may transfer your spot to another eligible writer, subject to our approval of their application.
B. For The Residency (Retreat + Mentorship)
-
Before the Retreat Begins: The refund tiers listed above (Section 2A) apply.
-
Once the Retreat Starts (Day 1): The Residency fee is 100% Non-Refundable.
-
Note: The Residency is an integrated program. Participants cannot attend the retreat and subsequently cancel the mentorship phase for a partial refund.
-
3. FORCE MAJEURE (UNAVOIDABLE CANCELLATIONS)
In the event that The PlotTwist Lab must cancel or reschedule the retreat due to "Acts of God" (including but not limited to: natural disasters, severe weather conditions preventing safe travel, government-mandated lockdowns, or civil unrest):
-
No Cash Refunds: We cannot offer cash refunds in these circumstances.
-
100% Credit Note: Your full payment will be converted into a Retreat Credit valid for 18 months. You may use this credit to reschedule for the new dates or join any future cohort.
4. CODE OF CONDUCT
We operate a safe, collaborative studio environment. The PlotTwist Lab reserves the right to remove any participant from the program (without refund) for behaviour that is harassment, discriminatory, or disruptive to the learning environment of the cohort.
5. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
-
Your Work: You retain 100% copyright and ownership of all writing, ideas, and materials you produce during the retreat and residency.
-
Confidentiality: Participants agree to keep the work of their peers confidential. What is read in the room, stays in the room.
6. LIABILITY & MEDICAL RELEASE
-
Assumption of Risk: By joining The Plot Twist Lab, you acknowledge that travel to remote locations (like the Himalayas) carries inherent risks, including limited access to immediate advanced medical care. You assume full responsibility for your own safety and health.
-
Medical Insurance: It is mandatory for all participants to have their own health insurance coverage valid in India. The Plot Twist Lab is not responsible for medical costs, evacuation fees, or hospital bills.
-
Emergency Authorization: In the event of a medical emergency where you are unable to consent, you authorize The Plot Twist Lab staff to secure medical treatment or transport on your behalf.
-
Release of Liability: You hereby release The Yellowe Ocean Communication Private Limited (doing business as The Plot Twist Lab), its directors, employees, and organizers from any liability for accidents, injuries, or illnesses (including altitude sickness or food poisoning) that occur during the retreat.
